This year is going to be THE year for the Mongolian Rally with a massive audience and plenty of media attention. The Mongol Rally defines itself as “The greatest Adventure in the World”. Starting from London, the rally finishes in the Mongolian capital Ulaanbaatar about three weeks later. It's around 9,000 miles of sand,
bandits and breakdowns. We are the Red Heroes, a two man team from Bournemouth, taking part in the rally to Mongolia. The Mongolian Rally started as an adventure in 2001 for two student teachers in Prague. It's not really a race, it's an adventure, with charity fundraising thrown in. Each team on the Mongol Rally has to raise a minimum of £1,000 for charity . Six teams left London in 2004. This year, it's exploded, with nearly 200 cars lining up in Hyde Park for the launch in July. The first 150 places for the 2007 Rally to Mongolia were subscribed in a record time of 30 seconds and we are one of those teams. The Mongol Rally is based on sponsorship, media attention and the charities it raises money for.
As well as a way of supporting great causes the Mongol Rally also provides a unique
marketing opportunity. We are looking for sponsors in exchange for various
degrees of branding and media coverage.
